Re[2]: error code

Bob Posted Mar 11, 2005, in response to:Ajit Nayak

I experienced the same "PROTECTOR" error code on my Sony receiver earlier this week.I do not have the owner's manual anymore. I have had the receiver now for about ten years and never experienced this problem. I had one of my son's toddler CD's in the CD player, and I changed the surround sound from dolby to theatre. Ever since I did this, the "PROTECTOR" error comes up after about 15 minutes of playing music. Can anyone help me out with fixing this problem? THANKS, Bob

If there is indeed a time factor involved, then this suggests that its an overheat detection sensor problem possibly caused by the incorrect loading of the speakers being used, the sensors generally being on the same heat-sink as the output I/C's. It could of course also be made worse by the location of the equipment possibly not having sufficient ventilation. (My comments made purely on the basis of this particular reported situation)
