HomeWhen I put DVD in, tries to read, just get No Disc message. I tried a DVD cleaner, but I got the same message. I hear that I can try to clean the laser myself, but am too nervous about taking it apart and messing something up. Any advise?

I've got the same problem. Does anybody know how to replace this motor. A source of where to buy a service manual would be great. Thanks Looks like alot of us are having simialr issues with their DVD players. I too now have a player same model that read no disc when one is in it. I took the case off, but it is hard to access the actual disc changer part due to it being covered. How do you clean the laser part if it is still covered once the main top is removed? Is it hard to do? In checking a database I see that this series of Panasonic DVDs had spindle motor problems that resulted in a "No Disc" message. The spindle motor is the motor that spins the disc on the tray. HAVING SAME PROBLEM, BUT WONDERING IF ITS THE MOTOR OR THE OPTICAL LASER. ANYONE HAVE THE SERVICE MANUAL OR KNOW A LINK TO IT? TRYING JUST TO FIND WHICH PART I HAVE TO ORDER. PANASONIC PARTS ARE AVAILABLE HERE DIRECT FROM PANASONIC. http://www.pasc.panasonic.com/epartr/PartsList.asp http://usersmanualguide.com/panasonic/dvd_home_theater_sound_system/sa-ht70 this is a user manual you can down load for free for this model My Panasonic SA-HT70 does not read dics, no disc. I was woundering what to do.. Did anyone had success fixing this problem. Hate to buy new DVD player PS. you have to get the parts for the SC-HT70 since SA-HT70 is discontinued. C'mon, nobody can help me out with this? Thanks for the replies. I did take the unit into a repair shop to have it inspected. They told me it was a laser malfunction and it would have to be replaced. So, for now, I am using my PS2 as my DVD player until I can fix it. Looks like it will cost about $170 to fix as well. Some manufacturers recommend using alcohol to clean the laser lens. I use a Q-tip moistened with glass cleaner and follow up with a Q-tip moistened with pure water as a rinse. Finally I use fresh dry Q-tips to complete the cleaning process. Do be careful. Don't rub too hard. The laser is supported by tiny focus and tracking coils. In most cases a cleaning will not solve the disc error and the laser pickup assy will require replacement. But, it's worth a try. Just remember not to soak the Q-tips, just moisten them. |
