Re: Re: JVC error codes assistance

Dale Parker Posted Dec 31, 2004, in response to:Stacy Sample

Need help resolving a E04 error code on a JVC DVL-805U camcorder. This error was proceeded by a clean head warning and then the safe mode code E04. I've purchased a cleaning liquid however I don't think that's the problem, as the dive seems to be laboring making a adnormal pitch sound or not the normal drive sound when engaging and starting up a tape. This camcorder is four years old max and has only had a total of 6 six tapes recorded all JVC DVM60. The problem started when I went to view a xmas tape that was recorded on Maxell. I'm looking for any help and a repair manual if available. I'm a Mech. Engineer with electronics background so I'm anxous to tackel this problem. I have scopes available for diagnostics. After viewing many web pages it's become apparent that I'm not alone in getting this E04 code.

Dale, I'm a Mechanical Engineer also. I'm getting the same error code on my GR-DVL805U. Were able to resolve this issue? From what I've read it seems like a tape loading mechanism issue. Maybe the tape doesn't wrap the head properly due to slow on non-responding mechanism. Any suggestions? John
