yeah i took the battery off and held it by the handstrap and kicked it a few times, pretty wack but effective

Hey everybody, I am a football coach and we rely on film for everything. When I was working with a Sony D8 in '04 this happened, but I had no solutions and passed the problem on to somebody else. It's 2008 and this message pops up an two different cameras. I read the forum, tried it, and now both work like a charm, so far. I'll let you know if they don't over time. Give it SMACK!!!!!!! Before anyone smashes their camcorders to bits (think of all those tiny non-serviceable pieces), try just giving the battery a sharp set of raps. Search on 'Lithium depassivation' for more technical information.

I cannot believe it but it work on mine also. I just smacked the bottom of it in the palm of my hand about 3 times and the code went away!
