Hi I had this error on a Sony VX2100 (like the PD150) and it turned out to be a faulty Capstan motor. Had an estimate to repair of between $500 and $1200. So bought the part for $85 (NZ) from Sony, downloaded the service manaul and had a go myself- figured I had nothing to lose - $1200 can buy a reasonable new camera. Anyway I was careful and patient and followed the manual- actually wasn't hard and it is now fixed- new motor inserted and running. I did manage to skip a few of the steps in the manual and get the capstan motor out from under quite a bit of the tape path elements (and new one back in) so avoided having to do tape path realigment which I didn't have the equipment for. That side of things looked complicated in the manual.
