Probably failure of the power supply. Sounds like the sweep circuit has failed. Is this a Plasma or LCD? If it's a plasma then the high voltage supply probably has failed. Not cheap and most all the flat screens you can not buy component level parts. You end up having to do a board exchange and ouch that hurts... Richard
