HomeJVC GR-D230AA Video Cam picture loss on replay. Hello Stacy This is so awesome that I can get an idea of the problem without spending $100 to find the camera's not worth repairing - so here goes. Ive got a reasonably old JVC GR-D230AA - old but gold. Ive been dumping image from a tape to computer for editing and without any reason or warning its just stopped replaying the image. The tape motor is still running and I hear the tape run FF or REW but the screen (both viewfinder and screen) is blue and there is no replay sound. Any idea what might cause this? Is it terminal do the think? many thanks Colin Brisbane Australia.

First of all, although still being seen Stacy's advice line has not been operational for nearly four years now, however regarding the problem you mention does this problem apply when tested with old previously recorded tapes as well? There is a possibility that the tape head requires "wet" cleaning as dry cassette cleaning tapes cannot overcome a badly contaminated video head, and it should be noted that this will also affect the audio as well, as it comes from the same head on all digital camcorders. Depending on answer given I will send on advice on head cleaning the "safe" way. |
