Just purely out of curiosity I take it that this happens with more than one tape? and also when the device is powered from the mains and not just the battery?
If of course it does in both circumstances mentioned then it appears as though an element of dismantling is going to be required to enable a proper investigation of the mechanism.

sorry, forget to say, i have tried a number of tapes, both old and brand new.

Hello, I bought this camera at a auction from a studio, and it came without a mains unit, or even a battery. But i did buy a new charger and a fresh battery (IDX Li-Ion V-Mount Akku (71Wh) Endura 7S).
