Sony Trinitron KV-32HS500

Jeremy Posted Nov 30, 2009

Fixing the Sony tv problem with the power not coming on and blinking led.

I'm not sure who's BRILLIANT idea it was to use a hair dryer pointed at the back vents of the Sony Trinitron to get the tv to turn on...but it worked perfectly! I used the blow dryer on the back, right side air vent (right side when facing the front of the tv) for about 3-5 minutes and voila...the tv turned on. Wow! Get the dust out!

I had the same problem with the same "blow dryer" work around. I did alot of research and found that there are 2 chips(IC6501 & IC8002, both are the same chip numbered MCZ3001D) soldered on one of the circuit boards(The "D" Board)that are responsible for 95% of Start Up failures with these sets. I bought the chips on E-Bay for $9.95 which included shipping. The chips came with sockets so when I removed the old chips from the board I was able to solder in sockets for easier replacement if they fail again. Replacing these chips saved me from haveing to buy a new TV.
