Re: Sony Trinitron TVs

Ondina Posted May 18, 2009, in response to:anonymous

We have a Trinitron KV-29LS60B 100 Hz., with the exact same problem. Suddenly turns off to standby and stays there, power led blinking green till you turn it off for a long while. It has to be unplugged from the socket, pushing the power button off does not work, and must be left alone for a long while ( a couple hours at least). This phenomenon has been increasing its frequency since it first happen and lately, it does it from the very early morning when my kid wants to watch cartoons, so we are assuming it will die anytime. The TV was bought back in 2003 but kept it in its box, unused till 2 years ago (June 2007), so is unbelievable such an expensive set has this issue ( till lately, is hardly been on, my kid is 4 now and starting to like cartoons and the console. We live in a cold & highly humid area -above 70% most of the time). I can't believe we paid over $1000 for this piece of junk!. Getting a technician home is $94, plus the repair, which has only 3 months warranty. A flat screen anything but Sony sounds pretty good to me right now. Sony must do acknowledge the problem and do something to compensate the consumers, or I'll personally will never buy other Sony item.
