Would have been interesting though to see if the situation would still have ended the same successful way if you had only taken the stick out, waited a few minutes then reinserted it, as by the very fact of removing the stick you effectively "changed the ball game" so to speak, as you possibly broke the link on a possible lock up glitch that had developed between the stick and the camera, and with all digital equipments breaking lock-up links is sometimes the quickest way to effect a cure. Good thinking though!!
