Re: Sony Trinitron TVs

Mab Posted Oct 14, 2008, in response to:anonymous

Mine just went kaput about 15 miutes ago. I have a Sony Trinitron CRT, 29" with PIP - I got it as a hand-me-down from a friend, which means I don't have the model number on hand, but also means I'm not out any of my own money. I was watching TV, glanced away for a few minutes, and when I looked back, the screen was black. Sound works perfectly. Channel surfing confirmed it was not a channel-specific problem, and when I turned the TV off and back on, the picture came back, then blinked, lined, and went out again. I have had the TV about a year and a half, and the TV can't be more than about 5 years old. Turning it on now, there is sound, but no picture at all, and the standby/timer LED blinks. I immediately came online to Google the problem to see if there were any fixes, but so far, all I've found are lists of complaints from people with the same (or similar) problem, so I guess it's time for me to find a new TV (not Sony brand). ...at least it let me finish watching season 2 of Battlestar Galactica this morning before dying on me!
