Re: Sony Trinitron TVs

Sam Posted Oct 08, 2008, in response to:anonymous

Hi everyone, I've got a problem with a Sony Trinitron 32" TV that has had some problems for the last few years. The model number is KV-32S20 from what I saw on the back of the TV, and it was made in June 1998. What my problem is, is that I have the picture blinking problem. When I turn on the TV, it shows an initial picture after a few seconds. Then if there is a picture brighter than absolute black, the screen flashes black...then to a quick picture, then black again. This happens in normal TV mode and when I'm trying to play on my PS3. I think the tubes cannot handle bright light anymore (am I right?) but I have no experience with soldering or TV repair whatsoever. What I'm asking is, is there anything I can do besides turning the picture & brightness down all the way to stop the blinking? Or should I just give up any hopes of having a nice TV for now?
