I have a KV-32S40, mfd in Feb '99, same problem. Three days ago - no picture, no sound, just the interminable flashing of the standby light. Been googling for a fix and so far, in total, I'll be doing 1) the hair dryer test, 2)checking the board for loose solder connections, and finally 3) checking the power supply. But this TV is still only 9 years old, cost up towards $900, and is heavy as hell to even attempt to move. I bought Sony because I always heard it was a solid TV, but with WEGA fiascos and now this....if I have to replace it, it won't be another Sony.
