This is a manufacturing defect and which a free repair is on offer provided you have the camcorders original packaging containing the warranty, (or just the original purchasers warranty) however fuller details can only be sent to a direct e-mail due to the nature of the text which also includes web links for appropriate JVC service contacts in various countries.
