Unplugging wire.

Fernando Posted Aug 14, 2008

The cable everyone is talking about-I don't know which one!!

Ok, I removed all the screws and disassembled the camera into two parts joined together by a wide white cable. I know everyone's gone over this a million times but the instructions posted are just not specific enough for me. Would someone please point out exactly which wire I'm supposed to unplug!? I need the color, the shape, the exact location!! I'm afraid of pulling a wire that i can't plug back in. I already tried gently tugging on one or two but i can't decide which one. Some say it's the white one on the circuit board, but others say it's the one closest to the battery (which in my cam are red and black!). If anyone would care to explain that would be great!!!! Thanks!

As you have already dismantled the device that will by-pass the procedure usually sent as part of the instructions, however the "plug" not wire! you want is the one that comes from the rear case section, as that contains the memory back up battery, it should be taken out and left for a few minutes before being reinserted. (the plug going into the main PCB socket numbered CN403) It should be pointed out that this procedure is not a guaranteed fix no matter what may be seen written, and in many cases the only way around the problem is to permanently disable the sensor, however this should "not" be tackled by anyone not acquaint at working with small precision types of equipment, and a small "quality" needle pointed soldering iron is essential for this task. All this said taking it that you have first of all tried cleaning the sensor? this having to be carried out with extreme care as the sensor is easily damaged.

An important aspect has been forgotten to be mentioned, that being, what Brand / model of device are you referring to?
