lens cap and e04 error message

combined problem with lens cap on and e04 error on my jvc gr dx27ek

How do i get my cam corder to play with these errors? Ive tried steves solution as well as loading cassette with door open which it does, Ive also tried pulling out battery when message occurs and then reconnecting it and then continuing to try and play or do anything with tape put it just stalls with message on screen e04 eject and reinsert tape.....'hell what do i do'? (sounds like end of a Johnny Cash song!) Any help would be appreciated.Ooops i also tried cheaning heads with head cleaners and cotton buds.....on luck!

    The two problems you mention are not really rectifiable by any external actions being taken as the dreaded lens cap problem is a manufacturing defect, and which a free repair has been in existence for about the last 30 months or so, (expires end of June) the stipulation being that you must be the original purchaser of the camcorder and have a receipt to prove this. E-04 which if showing when trying to play back a tape that you know has video on it, means there is a problem between the video drum output and the video input board, dirty tape heads can frequently cause this to show but if you have "correctly" cleaned the heads, correctly meaning there "is" a proper procedure for doing this without damaging the delicate heads, then it would indicate a definite fault exists.
