Have you tried another tape? as that code is 90% of the time caused by a sticking cassette. However if it makes no difference then it means that the actual take up spindle is slipping, this kind of thing can be caused by using other than JVC brand tapes, TDK and Maxell particularly "NOT" recommended as their use is frequently associated with drive problems. You could try (with the aid of a hairdryer on its cold or very cool setting) blowing the air into the open mechanism for about a minute or so, then put the tape back in and press rewind first of all before selecting Play (do NOT press FF or Play first) as that sometimes helps the situation. JVC - Panasonic or Fuji tapes are recommended, TDK - Maxell and Sony are not!
