I have exactly the same problem with my av61 and have been told that it could be Audio IC STK73909 (on power board facing back panel when opened). I am looking for stock of this here in SA. Let me know if you have any luck with repair of your set.

    Further to last post, have replaced previously mentioned STK IC (not audio by the way - it's a voltage controller). Set is now perfect again. Apparently this is a relatively common fault with these sets as they age due to high operating temps of this IC.
