Re: JVC GR-D71U

Roberta Johnson Posted Apr 23, 2008, in response to:Chris

JVC is aware of this problem and will repair it at no cost, even if it is out of warranty. You will want to contact them to download a particular form that needs to be filled out. I had mine repaired - I did have to pay the cost of shipping to them - and they returned it to me at their cost within a very short period of time.

The free repair offer expired at the end of June 2009 and does not appear (as yet) to have been further extended as indeed it has been three times before.

It should be pointed out that the special free repair offer, which was extended from Oct 2007, has expired at the end of 2007. However it is known that in some cases JVC is still offering a free repair on a goodwill basis, the qualification being that a person "must" have a receipt to show they are the original purchaser of the device. The only problem liable to be experienced is that JVC customer services in various parts of the English speaking world seem "not" to know what other areas are doing, making the free repair somewhat "hit and miss" as far as jumping through hoops is concerned.
