After trying everything last year I had finally resorted to opening it up, thourghly cleaning it, and disconnecting the sensor. It was fixed for a few months but now the same problem is back again. Took the tape out to clean a little and the gear on the inside fell off. I've always kept my camera in the best of care until a few mins ago when I chucked it at the wall, shattered. I'm completely done wiht JVC. I recommend that nobody ever buys JVC products, EVER. I spent 3 hours today preparing for a movie to make for a college project, and this all happened as I was ready and pulling out the camera. I've had other JVC products with numorous problems, never again JVC. People stay away from the company.

I am afraid your problem is caused because you haven't used the correct method to disable the sensor, as the sensor has to be shorted out at its connection block pins, disconnecting it leaves the system permanently active.
I could have passed precise instructions on how this is carried out, however that is not possible as you have restricted your e-mail address, and the comprehensive info cannot be pasted into the web page as it contains a number of JPEG's for illustration purposes.
It should also be pointed out that the modification is really aimed at people who are used to working with precision equipment, and who possess a good quality fine tipped soldering iron, as precise soldering is required.
