Home | First message in thread | Previous messageHi, I have a sony trinitron Model #KV-32hs500 where there seems to be a power on issue. When the power on button is pressed from the unit or from the remote, the unit will blink several times but remains in standby mode only. This has been going on for several months now. The unit was purchased in 2003 from the Sony store. I have just tried the hair dryer solution above which worked. I guess I will continue to use this method if it acts up again

I shut off my sony and tried to turn it on an hour later but it was a blank screen with the standby light blinking. I was in a panic but using the hairdryer on it worked!!!!! Thank You!!!!! My 36" HS500 just started this same thing. I bought it in Nov 02. Tried the hair dryer trick and it WORKED!! I love this TV and has been great. THANK YOU for posting!!! Saved a couple of grand on a brand new LED. THANKS AGAIN I HAVE A SONY KV-36HS500 THAT WOULD NOT POWER UP.I JUST GOT THE (STAND-BY)RED LIGHT BY THE POWER BUTTON THAT WOULD FLASH 6 TIMES.I TRIED THE HAIRDRYER ON HIGH ON THE LOWER RIGHT SIDE OF THE SET (IF LOOKING AT THE FRONT OF THE SET)FOR 5 MINUTES THE FIRST TIME AND WOULD NOT POWER ON.SO I TRIED THE HAIRDRYER FOR 5 TO 10 MINUTES MORE AND THE T.V. " CAME ON AND WORKED FINE " SO THANK-YOU TO WHO-EVER ORIGINALLY HAD THIS FANTASTIC GOT MY T.V. WORKING AGAIN IDEA..AGAIN THANK YOU VERY MUCH,WILLIAM FRANKLIN MONTG,AL You guys are awesome! I almost threw away my 52 inch sony trinitron TV. The hair dryer thing worked great! Although I also think it's dust and not a humidity sensor. The internet is the BEST! I was ready to bring my "HS500" to the curb. In order to further test the "Humidity\Dust" question, I used the blow-dryer on cool setting first, with no resolution of the problem. Then I used the regular heat setting and received almost immediate results. I know confounding variables still exist, but this was my experience. In addition, it should be stated that the TV will not switch out of "standby" until the power button is pressed. This was great advice! Thanks! THANK YOU! It worked! Shooting the blow dryier at the back of the TV seems to have doen the job. Just one note: it probably has nothing to do with humidity. Our house is so try the woodwork cracks. It may just be dust. Whatever it is, the blowdryer trick fixed it! My standyby lights kept flashing and no picture. I just tried the hair dryer thing and it worked. Thanks a lot. You all saved me some money and a lot of headaches. -Jeff |
