Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! I borrowed a Sony DCR-PC1010E Pal from a friend for a party. When I turned on the camera after the party I got the C31:23 error code. After applying your recommended "Treatment" of smacks and battery removal the error cleared and the camera is working once again. Thanks to your posting I can get the camera back to my friend.
