Working Now dead

Camera was working great...Battery fully charged...Power charging cord inserted...When I open bay door to reject tape NOTHING happens...NO Sounds...open screen...turn REC-off-PLAY switch in either direction...NOTHING..camera gone totally dead...does this camera have a "fuse" someplace for the power...Any ideas before sending to repair shop? Thanks in advance for any hints...

All camcorders have approx four "soldered in and difficult to get to" fuses, however there is a remote chance it could just be faulty / oxidised contacts on the power input socket, as this can also cut the battery out. Try holding the camcorder upside down and giving a short squirt of electrical lubricant cleaner into the power socket (just inside! & not pointing straight into), then rapidly push the power plug in / out about 6 times or so, if it is the contacts that action usually cleans them. If that action fails then unfortunately its likely to be a main fuse thats failed, this can be caused from "just one of those things" to rewinding of a slightly sticky tape or a more complex electronic fault having developed.
