I usually don't reply in these forums - but this time I just had to. I have an old Sony Handycam which I barely use anymore (model CCD-TR67), which is a "high-8" cam corder (I know, very outdated in this digital world... but it has a 64x optical zoom which is what I really need from time to time).
Anyway, I was also getting the E:61:00 error, and stumbled across this thread. So, since I had nothing to lose, I used the side of my fist, and smacked the side of the camera (near the lens)... I did this about 4 times, in rapid succession.
Turned the camera back on, and wallah!!! It's fixed!!!
Thanks so much for posting the solution!
