Flat lining
I have an older JVC 32' tv. Yesterday when I turned it on, there was sound but the picture was a bright flat line in the middle of the screen. Occasionally the picture would return for a few seconds. Since it has a picture tube, do you think that is the problem?

Put simply as you dont mention the model number, your TV appears to have a defect in the vertical scanning circuit, possibly the IC itself or associated components, and which is a notorious area for problems in JVC TV's. (its nothing to do with the actual tube as such)
