Hi Stacey,
I have a JVC GR-DF550 Mini DV video camera. The last time I used it everything was fine. Now when I attempt to load the Mini DV the door opens but the part to insert the Mini DV does not open and I get an error message that the camera is in safeguard mode. I took out the battery and replaced it as directed but the same thing keeps happening.
What should I do now?

I have the exact same model, GR-DF550, and the exact same problem.
A quick Google indicates there are thousands of other JVC digital camcorders that fail with a "Lens Cap" error which puts the unit in "Safeguard Mode" like mine.
What is JVC doing about all this? I can't even find a reference to "Safeguard Mode" problems on their Web site.
