The problem you mention of the timer light blinking is because the TV's power unit has shut down into standby mode for safety reasons because a fault has been detected somewhere in the circuitry, and in your model notoriously always around the vertical scan components, not really expensive parts but the cost entirely dependant on the labor charges of wherever you go for service.
