My Sony Trinitron KV-35V35 CRT screen blinks on and off.

A couple of months back, my Sony Trinitron KV-35V35 TV screen started to blink on and off. It powers on, then randomly the screen goes black and then the picture comes back on, and this continues. At first,it was happening every few minutes or so, but now the picture stays for about 5 seconds and goes black for 1-2 seconds, and this continues on. I tried all the video inputs (3 Video,1 Aux) connecting them to the cable box, but the problem is consistent. The audio is still there and does not break up. The TV does seem to take a bit longer to start up with the LED in the front blinking red 10 or more times before the picture comes on. One interesting thing that I noted is that the PIP picture does not blink, i.e. when the PIP is on, even though the main background screen blinks black, the PIP stays consistent. Would appreciate any input that will help in resolving this problem ?
