Re: JVC service or questions

I don't know if you are still responding to this but I thought I'd try. Thanks for taking the time to read it since you seem to be doing that. ;)
I have a JVC television, model AV31BP6. It doesn't quite turn on. It will be on for a while, then just turn off but it isn't really off. In the past I have unplugged it, waited for 10 minutes and plugged it back in and it's fine. This time it isn't coming back. However, when I turn it on it makes the right noises inside like it's powering up. But nothing comes on and the red light does not turn on to show the set is turned on.
Any idea? Or is it officially a lost cause?
Thanks!

Any TV that does that (and not just JVC) is doing so because there is a heat related component breakdown which is causing the power unit to switch back to its standby state for safety reasons.
I would not persevere in trying to get it to work, as at some point the auto shut down circuitry may possibly fail which can result in a series of components being damaged, rather than just the one thats liable to be the cause of the present problem.
It really requires investigation by a TV technician.
