Re[6]: Convergence problems on AV-48WP30

Jamie Posted Jun 27, 2007, in response to:Eric

I did do the tech adjust method. I was able to adjust the convergence, but there is still some fairly severe distortion of the red convergence in the upper right corner (most severe example) and other areas of the TV (much less severe.) I had my uncle, who's an electrical engineer who started out as a tv repairman, look at it. We went through all the convergence menus (customer and tech) and he manually adjusted the red gun. At the end he switched the feeds on the red and green circuits. The Green then exhibited the same distortion the red had shown. I have pics posted if that is helpful. h t t p://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa49/preacherzson/redgreenswitched2.jpg h t t p://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa49/preacherzson/redgreenswitched21.jpg h t t p://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa49/preacherzson/ConvergenceMenu.jpg h t t p://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa49/preacherzson/Convergencecorner.jpg Essentially, I'm willing to spend a couple hundred dollars to get a new board if I need it. I just want to justify the purchase and be fairly positive that I will be fixing the problem before I lay out the money.

JVCservice.com seems to have the part available- I'll call during business hours. Would I have to think about purchasing any of the other "P.W.Board Assy" parts, i.e. P.W.BOARD ASSY - CONVERG OSD BRD, P.W.BOARD ASSY - MAIN BRD ASSY, etc.? Thanks

Certainly appears to be a problem with the red vertical convergence circuit. You've switched the feeds to the yokes and the problem followed the red vertical convergence circuit. You've checked all the resistors and capacitors and they are within tolerance. I guess you've already tried replacing IC804 a second time, so that leaves the DCU. Yes it would be a great idea to replace the entire Convergence Out PWB (SSB-5051A-M2. Problem is it's showing as NLA from my distributor. Perhaps a Google search will help. Good Luck

Also, would it work out better to purchase the whole PWB Board?
