Simply because its ONLY the so called "Lens cap" problem that is on the free repair programme, the repair costs being recovered by JVC from Sony who supplied the faulty modules to them so, naturally anything other than a faulty image sensor will be a normal chargeable job. Should anyone else be reading this and have a lens cap problem, be aware that ALL original purchasers of a camcorder with this fault are entitled to a FREE repair if the model is on the official JVC list of ranges potentially affected.
