D53 models no-matter what suffix letters after that number are all potentially fitted with defective image sensors (CCD's) qualifying them for the "free" repair programme, this in many instances not being confined to having to still be in the country the camcorder was purchased in. With JVC it depends on who is spoken to on any enquiry made, so the situation should NOT be automatically considered a lost cause although JVC has a VERY low profile method of advertising the fact of this massive problem covering the USA / Canada / UK / Australia and New Zealand. (actual repair cost outside the repair programme approx £140.00) PROOF OF PURCHASE IS ALWAYS AN ESSENTIAL FACTOR THOUGH!
