JVC GR-D53AG "LENS CAP" error

JVC camcorder(JVC GR-D53AG) purchased last Dec04 in SIngapore. Having trouble getting a picture on my camcorder. When I turn it on I only see black through the lens and/or the LCD. "LENS CAP" appears for a second or two, then disappears but screen still black, with the usual logos of course. It looks like the cap is still on the lens. Same for automatic and manual modes. Will only record sound. Please tell me what may have happened and how to fix it. Domo arigato

Same problem. I contacted JVC. It is called a "lens cap error". Described as a "sofware glitch". The only warranty coverage is under 90day labor--no parts involved. Good Luck
