I contacted JVC directly, it is a known problem they are repairing at no cost to the consumer. I packed the camera, sent it to the Lawrencville, GA. center (about $10 UPS insured) and received it back in about two weeks. IT WORKS!! My only regret is that I wasn't aware of this repair program a year ago!
