In addition to my aforementioned reply I also meant to say that the usual advice given of taking out the battery then reinserting it again after about 30 secs or so is the standard procedure for re setting any digital equipments logic circuitry that may be suffering from lock up. (ie: you always disable the power source to the device whether battery or mains driven) If you had a tape stuck in the holder and couldn't remove it, then you would use the battery out / in procedure but "NOT" switch the camcorder on after reinserting the battery, just press the eject button. The reason for doing that is the sensor system that detects a fault cannot send a message to the logic circuitry telling it to shut down if the camcorder isn't switched on, so "sometimes" a tape can be removed using that procedure provided its not the mechanism thats jammed. The above mentioned tape comments may not actually apply to your own particular problem but may be of assistance to other readers of the posting. The safeguard indication is only really a warning that the control circuitry has shut down the mechanism as its detected a problem somewhere, and of course that can mean anywhere! The great problem is that if no error code indication is also shown other than that seen then its nearly impossible to guess where the problem is, although in many JVC camcorders it originates in the tape drive mechanism. Hope this info may clarify the situation. |
