This is really freaky - the same exact problem happened on my machine. I am wondering the same thing - if its an auto destruct feature that Sony built into the machine. What have you done about it? I took mine in to Circuit City for repair and they tell me its the motherboard. I wonder if we could all get together and determine just how many people are out there with the same issue and do something more formal to make Sony replace them for us. Linda
