Re: Sony DSC MVC camera repairs

Howie - 10th Oct 2006 4:21

Our digital camera (Sony DSC-P52) was dropped and then made a grinding noise, but still continued to function. Now the camera displays the error message "turn the power off and on again", and does not work. I took it apart and found the problem, a small gear that helps open the lens cover had lost a number of teeth. It is the main black gear that junctions with the sliding gear arm for the lens cover mechanism. I can send a pic if necessary. Where do I buy this black gear?

I have the same camera and the same problem, although I didn't drop mine. I hadn't used it in a few months and was getting it ready for use and its doing the lens sticking thing. Seems to be a commen problem with sony cameras.

Any luck getting the above repaired?

or a price on a proffesional repair?

I have the same problem, When I have turned on the camera to take a photo I see the message Turn the power off and on again. the lens camera is making a strange
noise, it seems something is stuck to the cover of lens.
