Re[2]: sony receiver "Protect" flashes when in CD mode

Roger Posted Oct 06, 2006, in response to:Scott Davis

Hi Scott, I have a Sony DVD player that does the same thing. If I turn the volumn past 20 during a movie (who doesn't), and there is an explosion or other loud sound in the movie, the DVD halts and PROTECT is displayed in the LED panel. I have to power off the unit and restart the player. I'm going to write to Sony and would suggest you do the same. If I hear anything I'll let you know. Roger

Yeah, I think it has to do with overloading and overheating both. If they are going to pack that much into one area they should install a small cooling fan into their electronics. I have panasonic DVD changers and other various brands and none of these ever have this problem. I am starting to think Sony is an overrated brand. I know there are quite a few people with this problem. Thanks for the reply. I guess I will write to Sony, or go buy a new one in a different brand since I haven't been able to use my so-called high quality Sony receiver for about 8 months.
