Just had an AV-27850 (for google, I'll add AV27850) pull up dead. Searched, found this site, ran to radio shack and -presto- TV works again. I am absolutely astonished that, with this many identical failures, JVC doesn't admit a design fault. I am an Electrical Engineer and would be embarassed by an obvious design failure like this. BTW, the 1000uF cap is still C926 in the 850 series as well and it is located near the middle of the board (a little to the right of center when looking from the rear of the TV). There is a + indicator on the bottom of the PCB if you don't pay attention to how the cap came out ;) . Also, my cap didn't look puckered at all and there was no discoloration on the board itself, but it was obviously the problem. Give this fix a whirl even if you think the cap looks good. Adam Thought I would add some search terms at the bottom of this to cover the 850 series as well.
