i have the same problem my camera DSC-S40 SONY if i open the monitor will blank ang white...just send me please the solution how to resolve this proble...please give me some instruction...thanks a lot in advence!!

Hi Eric, My Sony S-40 is also having the same white screen and blank screen problems. In addition, the shutter does not close when this happens, even though the camera shuts it self off. Sony wants me to drive 75 miles to show it at its repair center and the charge for JUST looking at the camera is $150, which is Just 40 bucks less than what i paid for it. SO please do send me the Pic's and how to correct this problem and i greatly appreciate your help. Thanks, kevin

Hello Please Help I have the same problem with the same camera, could someone please send me the files to correct the display.

I MAY HAVE contacted Sony about the blank white screen. IN MY OPINION, I BELIEVE they are refusing to address this issue, and I BELIEVE that they have buried their heads in the sand by not reading these emails (from non-Sony web sites) about this problem as I have directed them to do. Also I MIGHT BE prohibited from posting any email responces from them that they MAY HAVE sent to me about the matter because any message and any attachments are solely for the use of intended recipients and may contain privileged and/or confidential information. Pushing on the logo below the LCD works for now. Heaven forbid that I might have to get out my trusty screw driver and open the forbidden camera case to clip off the alleged defective tabs.

My friend has a fairly new camera (2 months)and hers is doing the same thing and Sony are wanting to charge her $500 to fix it and are saying she has damadged it somehow. I am certain she has not. How come all these people are having the same problem? Is it a common fault with these cameras?

Can you send those jpg images and the explanation on how to correct the problem to me. By the way, a single blow to the Cyber-shot area of the camera seems to work for a while but not a good solution. Thanks! Don Lockery
