I have the same camera and love it. Unfortunately, it got dropped and now it won't read ANY disc. Your problem seems to be camera related. My installation of the program on my com puter instantly recognized my camera a a peripheral. I just cant take pictures and save them as the camera loads all pics/media to the disc and the disc can be rewritten over and over. This is where the 'file' is stored for later processing. Needless to say, I am going to have to send mine in for service. Your will probably have to be sent in as well! The USB cable appears to be a standard 'mini USB' type cable. The average camera shop that deals in digital cables should be able to fix you up. Wish you luck, its a great versatile camera. Keep it away from water/dust/and accidental physical shock though!
