Help? USB MODE on LCD

Hi, Yesterday I purchased a Sony Mavica MVC_CD400. It came with all accessories except the USB cable. It is like new and clean. The only problem is: when I turn the power on the sony screen comes on and then the next screen is blue and says: USB Modde PSP (OOOO)>underneath Like I said I dont have the Sony USB cable. I dont know if plugging in the USB cable to the camera will fix the problem. I cant go into the menu or any other setting. Its stuck there. I even tried the Reset on the bottom of the camera. I think the one end of the cameras USB cable is just for this exact camera,I may be wrong and dont want to pu out the $30.00 to find out that it may not work. Have you heard of this problem before or is it a regular function being I have never owned one of these cameras before. Also I have not as yet bought any blank CD's fot it. Does it need to have a cd inside to not get this screen? Anything you could tell me would help! Thanks much!....Allan

I have the same camera and love it. Unfortunately, it got dropped and now it won't read ANY disc. Your problem seems to be camera related. My installation of the program on my com puter instantly recognized my camera a a peripheral. I just cant take pictures and save them as the camera loads all pics/media to the disc and the disc can be rewritten over and over. This is where the 'file' is stored for later processing. Needless to say, I am going to have to send mine in for service. Your will probably have to be sent in as well! The USB cable appears to be a standard 'mini USB' type cable. The average camera shop that deals in digital cables should be able to fix you up. Wish you luck, its a great versatile camera. Keep it away from water/dust/and accidental physical shock though! I have had mine for about 5yrs! -Paul...
