There is a small thin round lithium battery cvv 2025, goes in the bottom of the camera. this controls the ejection of the tape and some other digital fitures

The sony ccd-f401 is a nice little unit but I'm getting the impression that they have a tendency to break down as 3 of the 4 units listed today on ebay are being sold as parts only deals. I just bought one today at our local flea market and because it looked so clean I assumed it was in good working order but that was not the case. Fortunatly I only paid 15 bucks for it. When you put a tape in and power it up it sounds like it's trying to do something but the tape dosen't move at all so none of the buttons do anything. I like the camera mostly because it has an external mic jack. Does anyone think it's not worth repairing because it will just break down again? Or is this the weak link in the camera and after it's repaired it will work for a long time. I'm really suprised it's broken. It looks brand new. Thanks Mike
