Home | First message in thread | Previous messageWell...another success story on replacing C926 on my JVC 36980. I know they've said that millions of these sets have been sold and the reported defects are insignificant but I'm now a contributor to the statistics that say JVC had an inherent long term defect. If your set won't turn on and your technically inclined, try replacing a $2 capacitor (C926 - 1000uf @ 35volts) and see what happens.

I have now had the problem twice and the fix has worked both times. Both instances, i was away for several days (ie no tv use) and i noticed another posting mentioning that it was when they returned from vacation. Perhaps it has something to do with capacitors discharging. Next time i am away, i think who ever I have coming over to feed the cats and pick up the mail, i will also get them to turn the tv on momentarily. I definately appreciate the tip. It fixed my AV-3570. I intially called a repair shop and they quoted approx 225.00 for the fix, when they came to the house I was then quoted 375.00. less than 2.00 and about 20 minutes time, you guys are my heroes. |
