I, too, have a Sony that keeps shutting down. I really appreciate your detailed post. I have one question---how do you get that back off the TV? I tried everything. but it won't budge. I hope you respond quickly as the sale on the tv I have been thinking of purchasing runs until this weekend. Thanks.

I'm ready to do this magic adjustment BUT I am having trouble getting the back off. Itg looks like I'm pullling out some circuit boards and I can tell there's wires to speakers that are getting stretched tight... Is there a trick to this or do I just YANK!!
