HomeDead Audio Hi folks- I am having audio problems with a JVC TV Model AV-27820. Audio has been erratic for years, but a gentle thump on the left side of the TV always fixed it. Audio is dead, but thump now brings it back with a buz, then audio goes away after a few seconds. I'm an IT guy and no stranger to fixing PCs, but TVs aren't my forte. I'd like to keep the set, it works great otherwise. Any suggestions? Thanks -Dan

You might try tracing back the audio circuit from the speakers. If you don't have the schematic you could use an ohm meter to check what components that are in the audio circuit and pull the circuit board and touch up the solder connections for the audio section. The fact that when you bang on a certain part of the case and the audio comes back to normal temporarily could indicate a cold solder joint or oxidation has developed over time. |
