Hello,
i've had a JVC GR-D20 EK camcorder for about 2.5 years now and went to use it today. I haven't used it for a few months and the last time I used it it was working great. It hasn't been knocked or mistreated in any way, but for some reason I keep getting the 'Lens Cap' message flash on the screen even after the lens cap has been removed. I am unable to get any picture from the camera. It seems to be a component issue related to the lens, as far as I can tell. I am able to playback tapes that have been pre-recorded, which tells me that the LCD screen is fine. I can also get sound when I record and playback....just no picture.
I'm very unhappy because I was supposed to be recording a surprise 'going away' party and am now unable to do so.
Please could somebody help/advise me on the actions I should take. I'm aware that repair charges are usually extortionate and often amount to a price higher than the actual cost of the camera. I really don't want to have to buy a new camera and feel that I shouldn't have to. Surely these things, costing as much as they do, should have a longer lifespan.
Please help.
Regards,
Jay Biggs.

Hi,
I have had exactly the same problem - the camera worked fine last time I used it and when I went to use it at Christmas - the exact same problem occurred.
I was wondering if you have had any luck in resolving the issue and would be very interested to know the outcome. I think it's an absolute disgrace - considering the cost of these camcorders in the first place.
Many Thanks,
Alan
