Re: dead sony kp53hs10 big screen

Phil Gilmer Posted Dec 13, 2005, in response to:Rich

Sony KP-53HS10 has dead "D" board part number A1346873A. Part sent to Sony and cannot be repaired nor do they have replacement part. We've been going round about with Sony on this for a month and cannot resolve. Set is five years old and Sony advises they are required to have parts for seven years. Would appreciate any help in locating part or advice on dealing with Sony.

I am not sure what one can do about it. After spending around $3000 on this TV I am really upset that it has a life span of just 4 years (for me). Anyone know of anything we can do with Sony? Based on this thread and one that showed up about a year ago on a different posting, this TV has had this problem from very early. No other issues with this TV, it has been a great TV when it worked!

I love my Sony 53HS10 but I noticed a problems with DVD playback via my DTV option. For some reason when a DVD is playing back at 1080i (I am using an LG DVD and upconverting) the screen goes bloank or flashes for a seconds then comes back and the TV indicates DTV 1080i. This seems to happens ransdomly when a DVD is playing and sometimes even when I playback in 480p mode as well...it's as if the signoal from the DVD player is lost via the component for a second and then comes back. Anyone else experience this? Alfred.
