Adjusting the Tension Arm will increase/decrease tape tension. The Tension Arm is located just to the left of the Supply Reel on the extreme left side of the deck (looking from the front). The adjustment is made by varying the tension on the Tension Arm Band which wraps around the Supply Reel. You are correct in that there is a screw which provides this adjustment. Also, consider cleaning the heads and everything in the tape path (including the Control Head Assy). Watch the tape as it passes over the Control Head to be sure the tape movement is consistent and doesn't fluctuate. Eric
